Integrated mosquito veil
Whether on a deer hunt, or pigeon, duck or goose shooting – very often, camouflage is everything. Swedish company Chevalier is offering a camouflage suit that not only conceals, but also provides protection from insect bites.
Mosquito Camo is the name of the camouflage suit by Swedish company Chevalier, primarily intended as insect protection for hikers, anglers and hunters. The fabric, a polyester-cotton blend, is so tightly woven that the bloodthirsty little pests have no chance of getting through it. In addition, the two-piece suit is coated with Teflon to make it water-repellent. A new feature is the Camoreal deciduous leaf pattern, which makes it difficult for the game to spy the hunter. However, if camouflage patterns are not for you, the suit is also available in plain olive green.
The jacket, which has to be pulled on over the head, has a hood and a mosquito net concealed in the breast pocket. The two parts can be quickly combined using a zip. This not only keeps insects away, but also disguises the noticeable pale face of the hunter. The mosquito veil is very fine and hardly obstructs vision. To get a better view, however, hunters should wear a cap that keeps the net fabric a little distance away from the eyes. After a short period of familiarisation with the net, it is even possible to shoot quite well with a shotgun. The trousers have a back pocket, two front and two practical side pockets and an elasticated waist, and they are very comfortable to wear.
Unfortunately, the camouflage outfit does have one weakness – the polyester-cotton fabric rustles a little. This problem did not improve even after washing the suit several times. Not a problem when shooting duck or pigeons, but when shooting game at very close quarters, this could compromise your hunting success.
The Chevalier mosquito outfit is available in well-stocked hunting equipment shops.
